Personal safety timer — alerts contacts if you don't check in
BackMe (listed on iOS as BackMe Alert) is a personal safety net: start a timer before you head out, and if you don't cancel in time, trusted contacts get email, optional SMS, and push — with optional GPS and a live map. Guest mode works offline; signed-in users get Cloud Tasks delivery, live tracking, and lock-screen Live Activities. Shipped as a Flutter iOS/Android app (com.sosmaybe.app.sosmaybe) plus a Next.js site at backme.app.

Challenge
The Problem
Ship a check-in safety product that works for guests without an account, then scales to scheduled remote delivery, multi-channel alerts, live location, lock-screen presence, and subscriptions — without leaking contact names or sending a shared To: line.
Solution
What We Built
We built the sosmaybe workspace as BackMe: Flutter + Riverpod with guest SharedPreferences timers and signed-in Firestore alerts; Gen2 Cloud Functions + Cloud Tasks for fire-at delivery (SendGrid email, Twilio SMS, FCM); optional GPS and token-gated live map; iOS Live Activities and Android ongoing notifications; RevenueCat premium plus AdMob; and a Next.js marketing site with contact API.
